Présentation

My Artistic Endeavors: “Realms of a Moment” is a title I once used for a body of work. Actually, it is a good description for all my drawings, paintings and prints. Life feels like an unfolding, a process and for me doing my art work does as well. It’s a dance of reactions and doing. For example, while doing my figure drawings, each drawing is a journey. I have no idea how each moment will unfold, where my attention will be drawn. I just want each moment to be fresh and my marks and paper surface to breathe together. My art making is, indeed, a quiet adventure and a pleasure.

Parcours

I was born (1948) and raised in New York City.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master in Early Childhood Education.

From 1981-1984, I studied painting and drawing with the abstract expressionist
Nieves Billmyer, a long-time student of Hans Hofmann. Nieves was a very
seasoned painter, teacher and person. This experience was pivotal for me,
allowing me to sense my commitment to exploring art making.

I have been living in Basel, Switzerland since 1988.

From 2003-2006, I studied painting and art theory at the Freie Kunst Akademie in
Basel.

Between 2013 and 2015, I studied figurative painting at the New York Studio
School, in NYC, with Graham Nickson and his team.
